Fall Ball
Brattleboro Little League hosts a Fall Ball season each year.
First-time players and those finishing Small Fry Baseball are encouraged to play. If you played Small Fry this past year and you’re unsure if you’re ready for Little League next season, this is a league you want to be a part of!
2025 Fall Ball registration takes place on July 10th, 14th, 15th, and 16th from 4-6 pm at the Little League field in Brattleboro. If you cannot make any of these dates, please contact us to make other arrangements to get you signed up. The cost is $25 per child.
Fall Ball is an instructional league designed for players of all skill levels. There are usually six teams. Eligible players are anyone who played in our league this year and anyone who will turn 9 years old by August 31st, 2026 but is not 13 before August 31st, 2025.
Please note that players who are League Age 12 will not be eligible to pitch in this league. They will, however, be able to work on their hitting and fielding skills. Additionally, to provide as many players with the opportunity to pitch, all pitchers will be limited to two innings.
The Fall Ball season begins on September 6th (game times to be announced) and runs for about six weeks. The regular season ends on or around October 12th. We play a 12 game regular season with a playoff at the end. Teams play one game on Saturday and 1 game on Sunday, and there is one practice per week. All games and practices take place at the Little League field. There are no make up games; if we are rained out, we are just rained out.
Fall Ball has been so great for our player development here in Brattleboro. Kids get an opportunity to play different positions, as our rules only allow for a player to play a position for a maximum of 2 innings (with an exception for catcher). This allows many kids to try pitching or playing the infield when they only played outfield during the spring season, while also allowing them to get more reps in the outfield. This program is so valuable to kids that will be joining us next spring as new players. Playing Fall Ball teaches them skills like stealing bases on passed balls and hitting with a kid pitching to them rather than an adult, as well as becoming comfortable in this environment.
For Fall Ball, we put a 2 hour time limit on the game and keep the scoreboard off because this is all about the reps and developing skills and building the mental knowledge to play the game to our best. Last year was one of our best years numbers wise, and we’d like to see us get there again! As in years past, we will not do forfeits so if you need to be away a weekend your team can always pick up another player from another team to play the game so we encourage everyone to come, sign up, and have some fun playing baseball in an environment that is based on learning and developing. If you have any questions or if you are interested in coaching (we will need 4 coaches per team), please don’t hesitate to reach out to us here or through the Brattleboro Little League Facebook group.
